Ridgewood Neighborhood Association
Minutes of the regular meeting of the Board of Directors on January 24, 2006
The regular meeting of the Board of Directors was called to order at 3:07 PM at the home of Betty and Don Nester. Board members in attendance were President Larry Bertuccelli, Vice-president Don Nester, Secretary Forrest Dobbs, Treasurer Iris Gardner, and Member-at Large Sandy Piercey. Others present were Dick Feaster (Neighborhood Watch and Block Captain Committee Chairperson), Carole Pfoutz (CC&R Committee Chairperson) and Carole Robinson (Newsletter Editor).
Minutes of the last regular meeting which had previously been e-mailed to Board members were approved without corrections or amendments.
Treasurer Iris Gardner gave the treasurer’s report, indicating a positive current balance.
Dick Feaster reported on several incidents of vandalism in the area, reiterating the need for vigilance. He also said that the scar on the hill behind the Denhard residence had been seeded in hopes of improving its appearance and lessening the possibility of erosion.
Don Nester reported that there are no architecture policies or procedures other than those mentioned in the CC&Rs. He will have a committee meeting to discuss the need for more specifics and will report to the Board for discussion and possible adoption. He also has been notified by the County regarding the construction of a pool and pool house at 15951 Crestridge Ave.
Carole Pfoutz reported that there have been no new complaints of residents out of compliance with the CC&Rs. Also, there was a positive response to letters to owners regarding RV parking and clean-up. After discussion it was decided there would be a new policy to send thank-you notes to residents who have responded positively to requests for compliance.
Sandy Piercey thanked Carole Pfoutz for hosting the game day of the Ridgettes. The next three meetings of the Ridgettes will continue as planned.
Don Nester reported there has been no new activity on the Association website.
Carole Robinson asked that articles or information of note be in to her by February 3 for publication in the next newsletter.
President Larry Bertucelli thanked Carole and Ray Pfoutz for hosting the Christmas party. A good time was had by the 55 people in attendance.
President Bertucelli reported on the results of his discussions with the Public Works department of the County regarding their maintenance of the areas next to the streets in Ridgewood. A commercial landscape company had been hired by the County and was instructed to clear up to five feet along the streets. As this would include destruction of major landscaping, some planted by homeowners, and would open the area to possible erosion as well as be unsightly, it was decided that the maintenance would only be trimmed at the street border and be done vertically or more extensively if the road surface would be undermined by the plants.
Dick Feaster asked the Board to consider the possibility of a Ridgewood propane co-op. He reported that such co-ops were in place in the Apple Valley neighborhood and parts of Twain Harte and MiWuk. He said that if enough residents are interested, propane vendors would be asked to bid on our business. Generally there would be a five-year contract with a guaranteed markup over the basic cost of the propane and no tank rental. Dick will get more information to the Board at their next meeting with the possibility of then polling the residents of their interest before going forward with asking the vendors for bids.
Scott and Tami Henning have volunteered to host the Ridgewood summer party. The date is still to be determined.
The next meeting will be on Monday, March 27, 2006 at 3:00 PM at the home of Forrest and Joyce Dobbs.
As there was no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 4:47 PM.
Respectfully submitted.
Forrest W. Dobbs, Secretary
