Ridgewood Neighborhood Association
Minutes of the regular meeting of the Board of Directors on May 21, 2007
The regular meeting of the Board of Directors was called to order at 3:08 PM at the home of Don and Betty Nester. Board members in attendance were President Larry Bertuccelli, Vice-president Don Nester, Secretary Forrest Dobbs, Treasurer Ralph Legg, and Member-at-Large Sandy Piercey. Also present were Carole Pfoutz (CC&R Committee Chairperson), Joyce Dobbs (Ridgette Chairperson), and Betty Nester.
Minutes of the last regular meeting of March 12, 2007 were approved without corrections or amendments.
Treasurer Ralph Legg reported a positive cash balance. Membership is now at 89.
Larry Bertuccelli reported that Dick Feaster had sent an e-mail to all of the block captains regarding the recent second burglary.
Don Nester reported that the Architectural Control Committee has addressed the complaint of pool equipment noise at a neighborhood residence and that has been resolved. Don also reported that he is checking for a new host for the website.
Carole Pfoutz will pursue a resolution to a complaint of a residence with a car up on jacks for a long period of time.
Joyce Dobbs said that the Ridgettes’ April gathering at Kate’s Tea House in Columbia was a great success. Also, she expressed thanks to Jeanne Legg for hosting the Games Day in May. She reminded all of the June 24th Summer Party/Meeting at the Clarks’. Reminder cards will be sent in June for the next three months activities. The July Games Day is still to be confirmed. Betty Nester will organize an outing to a local restaurant for August and in September Carole Pfoutz will host a Games Day at her home.
In her absence Carole Robinson submitted an e-mail with suggestions of newsletter items as well as a possible date for publication. It was decided that Secretary Forrest Dobbs will submit an addendum to the recent residents list detailing additions, deletions, and corrections. There will also be articles on the recent two burglaries, a thank-you to Jim Hodges for the many times he printed labels for Association mailings, an article with pictures of the Ridgettes’ April tea, an article by the new Board President, a list of the Ridgettes’ July-September meetings, a thank-you to Bruce and Virginia McDonell for their constant diligence in caring for the neighborhood by spraying for weeds and picking up trash, especially along Ridgewood Drive. Larry Bertuccelli repeated his request that more articles be published in the newsletter, especially to be accompanied by photos. A date for the publication of the July newsletter will be determined after the new Board meets on July 9, 2007.
Many positive responses have been received regarding the recent membership mailing. Membership has increased to 89 out of 150 residents. Nominations for the three offices whose terms end on June 30 have been closed. Don Nester agreed to fulfill the office of President and his vice-president position will be filled by appointment after July 1. Forrest Dobbs and Sandy Piercey agreed to another two year term for their Board positions of Secretary and Member-at-Large. Therefore, balloting at the June meeting/party will not be necessary.
There has been a suggestion that there is a need for the clarification of the duties of Block Captains. A committee of Larry Bertuccelli, Ralph Legg, and Dick Feaster has been formed to draft a list of duties. These will be completed by June and will be discussed by the new Board with possible adoption at the July meeting.
Larry Bertuccelli has been authorized by the Board to invite a spokesperson for the Sheriff’s Department to speak at the June meeting/party about the recent burglaries, ways to protect oneself and one’s property, and what phone number to call for assistance.
The next meeting is scheduled for July 9, 2007 at 3 PM at the home of Joyce and Forrest Dobbs.
The meeting was adjourned at 4:50 PM.
Respectfully submitted,
Forrest Dobbs, Secretary
