RIDGEWOOD NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION
Minutes of the regular meeting of the Board of Directors on November 2, 2009

The regular meeting of the Board of Directors was called to order at 3:00 PM at the home of Dave and Judith Palmer. Board members in attendance were President Dave Palmer, Vice President Bim Hastings, Treasurer Ralph Legg, Secretary Kathie Isaac-Luke, CC&R Committee Chairperson Carole Pfoutz, Don Nester (Website Committee,) Member-at-Large Forrest Dobbs, and Block Captain Guy Hoffman. Also in attendance was homeowner Dave Holton.

Minutes of the last regular meeting of August 10, 2009 were approved and accepted as corrected.

TREASURER'S REPORT:  Ralph Legg reported a positive balance with no changes in collections since the last meeting. Postage for mailing out newsletters continues to be a major expense. It was decided that another reminder be included in the newsletter to encourage residents to receive the newsletter by email.

BLOCK CAPTAIN COMMITTEE REPORT: Dave Palmer reported that there is still a shortage of two Block Captains and no one has yet volunteered for these positions. Dave will continue to make phone calls to try to recruit volunteers. It was proposed that a meeting be called for current Block Captains so that they can decide what they want the position to entail. After the date of the meeting is decided, an announcement will be placed in the newsletter inviting any and all who wish to participate.

ARCHITECTURAL COMMITTEE REPORT:  Dave Palmer reported that one resident asked the committee to review a project and that this project was subsequently approved.

WEBSITE COMMITTEE REPORT:  Don Nester reported that there have been only minor updates since the last meeting.

CC&R COMMITTEE:  This committee had nothing to report.

RIDGETTES: Carole Robinson was unable to attend the meeting, but sent word that the November Ridgette luncheon would be a potluck at the home of Nancy Hoffman on November 18. Carole will mail a postcard to the Ridgettes shortly.

NEWSLETTER: In the absence of newsletter editor, Conny Simonis, Dave Palmer reported that the deadline for submitting material for the newsletter is November 10. Review of the copy is November 16 and the publication date is November 20.

OLD BUSINESS:
Dave Palmer reported that the sand sealing operation and the marking and striping on the Ridgewood CSA #32 roads has been completed. The total cost of the project was $17,492.

Dave Palmer reported that 10 letters had been sent out to absentee owners and other residents who needed to clear overgrown brush and trim trees which are growing too close to the roads.
Only one person who was notified took action. Since there are still others who have not yet taken action, this issue will need to be readdressed.

NEW BUSINESS:  Dave Palmer reported that Robin and Jim Ronan have volunteered to have the annual Christmas party at their home on Sunday, December 13. It was decided that members who volunteer their homes for Ridgewood Association parties should not have to pay any expenses toward the party.

Kathie Isaac reported that there has been trespassing on the private road which runs off Parkridge Ave. Trespassers have torn down the barrier that was previously in place. Trucks and cars have been driving up the road at all hours of the day and night, and the situation has worsened since the detour has been in place. There is evidence of dumping, and litter and cigarette butts have been thrown from the vehicles. It was decided that efforts would be made to determine the names of the current owners of the property so that a letter could be sent by the board asking the owners to replace the barrier and post the property.

Dave Palmer reported that the Phoenix Lake Road project is expected to be completed by Christmas.

The next regular Board meeting will be held at 3:00PM on Monday, January 11, 2010 at the home of Carol and Ray Pfoutz.

As there was no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 4:25 PM.

Respectfully Submitted,

Kathie Isaac-Luke,
Secretary
