Ridgewood Neighborhood Assciation
Minutes of the regular meeting of the Board of Directors on September 13, 2010
The regular meeting of the Board of Directors was called to order at 3:05 PM at the home of Ralph and Jeanne Legg. Board members in attendance were President Dave Palmer, Vice-president Bim Hastings, Treasurer Ralph Legg, Member-at-Large Forrest Dobbs, Carole Pfoutz (CC&R Committee Chairperson), Dave Holton (Architectural Control Committee Chairperson), Carole Robinson (Ridgettes Chairperson), Don Nester (Webmaster), and Conny Simonis (Newsletter Editor.)
The e-mailed minutes of the last Board meeting were not received by some Board members. However, President Palmer indicated that his hard copy was correct and the Board gave a provisional approval. The minutes are also on the website.
Treasurer Ralph Legg reported a positive balance as of August 3l, 2010. It was noted that approximately $415 of the proposed budget of approximately $650 has been spent. The increase of a positive balance may be attributed to the increase of members receiving e-mailed newsletters, thus decreasing our postage outlay. It was also noted that only 89 property owners (61%) were members of the Association as compared to 95 last year. In order to increase membership, the Board voted to send the next newsletter to all residents with an application for membership to be included. We are required as a small tax-exempt organization to submit Form 990N yearly, therefore the IRS e-card filing status has been updated.
Dave Palmer reported that there are several blocks without Block Captains. Don Nester volunteered to serve for Block 3 and Kathie Luke, the alternate for Block 6, will be asked to serve as the regular Block Captain. The need for immediate contact with residents in the event of an emergency was expressed. The possibility of using a phone tree was mentioned as well as the inclusion of a map with a list of Block Captains who could be contacted. Information about Neighborhood Watch was received from a volunteer sheriff in Jamestown.
Dave Holton reported that Joan Bergsund has moved and the ACC is looking for her replacement. Projects of Parriott, Holton, A’Dair, and Darr have been approved by the ACC since the last meeting.
Carole Pfoutz reported there has been no CC&R committee activity. It was decided that the Board should send a letter to Dr. Westbie regarding the drainage problem caused by the berry bush growth at the edge of his property. Clean-up by the County will be costly and be charged to our CSA account. VP Hastings will write the letter over the signature of President Palmer.
Carole Robinson noted future Ridgette meetings will be announced by e-mail. No cards will be sent unless specifically requested . The next meeting of the Ridgettes will be this Wednesday, September 15 at the home of Margaret Addison. Ms. Robinson presented Carole and Ray Pfoutz a thank-you gift from the Board for their many years of service and friendship to Ridgewood neighbors.
Don Nester is updating the website’s resident list. Names and addresses of several new residents were given to Don for inclusion.
The next newsletter will be sent October 5 with information to be included sent to Conny Simonis by September 23.
The location of the 2010 Christmas party was discussed. The home of Bob and Linda Parriott was mentioned as a possible site. President Palmer will contact them.
Ralph Legg asked each Board member to invite a guest to the next Board meeting. Hopefully that will increase participation in the Board’s activities and interest in Ridgewood in general.
The next regular meeting will be held on November 8, 2010 at 3:00 PM at the home of Dave and Judy Palmer.
As there was no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 4:45 PM.
Respectfully submitted,
Forrest Dobbs (for Kathie Luke, Secretary)
